SUPPORTING RECONCILIATION

Call to Action 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls upon the corporate sector in Canada to build meaningful, respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples, and to provide their communities with long-term sustainable benefits.

For FSET, there is no greater goal than digital equity, and we acknowledge the benefits that come when all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy and economy. We are honoured to answer this call and work with First Nation communities to leverage technology as a tool to solve problems and change the world for the better.

Call to Action 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls upon the corporate sector in Canada to build meaningful, respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples, and to provide their communities with long-term sustainable benefits. We are honoured to answer this call and leverage technology as a tool to solve problems and change the world for the better.

This commitment begins with the implementation of educational programs aimed at the professional development of our employees. As part of the onboarding process, it is required that all staff complete the Indigenous Canada and 4 Seasons of Reconciliation course. These courses serve to foster awareness of colonization’s history and impacts, as well as promote a foundation of understanding as to some of the Indigenous cultures, traditions, and practices.

FSET also recognizes the significance of listening to the lived experiences and voices of those around us, and this dedication is exemplified through various business initiatives such as prioritizing digital equity in the North. Recognizing the critical role of reliable, high-speed internet access, we strive to bridge the digital divide, empowering Indigenous communities with the resources needed to thrive in today’s modern, digital landscape.

With this knowledge, the FSET team can engage with communities in a respectful and informed manner, helping to foster strong and mutually beneficial relationships. Staff are encouraged to seek ongoing learning opportunities as we continue supporting reconciliation. We believe these actions are crucial for reconciliation and contribute to the goal of creating an inclusive and equitable society for all.
