STARLINK FAQ

Our FAQ section covers everything from service reliability and internet speeds to installation details and pricing. Dive in to find out how Starlink can transform your internet experience and address any questions you might have about its availability and features.

Starlink is an advanced high-speed internet service utilizing satellites in low-Earth orbit (LEO). These satellites form a network, or “artificial constellations” capable of transmitting broadband signals to ground level receivers. This innovative, wire-free technology not only addresses the limitation of fibre optics for remote Northern communities but also meets the longstanding connectivity needs.

Starlink offers high reliability due to its extensive satellite network. While weather conditions can occasionally affect performance, the system is designed to maintain connectivity and provide consistent service.

Starlink delivers internet speeds that typically range between 50 Mbps and 150 Mbps download, 12-40 Mbps upload, and latency as low as 30ms in many locations.

Prices may vary based on location and the specific plan, such as residential or Roam. View Starlink’s service plans here.

The basic hardware needed for Starlink internet includes the Starlink dish with base, a Wi-Fi router, and cables. This comes bundled in the Starlink Kit, which you receive upon subscribing to the service.

The Starlink dish should ideally be installed within 150 feet of your house. This allows for optimal signal strength and connection stability. Longer distances can be accommodated with the use of longer cables or wireless solutions, but may require additional equipment and professional installation to ensure performance is not compromised.

Starlink Residential is designed for fixed locations like homes and offices, providing consistent high-speed internet. Starlink Roams offers more flexibility, allowing users to take their internet with them wherever they go within North America.

Weather conditions like heavy rain, snow, and thick cloud cover can impact Starlink’s performance temporarily, potentially causing slight interruptions or reduced speeds.
