Dave Brown
PARTNER & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
As a partner and CEO, Dave is committed to leveraging technology and using it as a tool to solve problems and change the world for the better. With firm beliefs that actions speak louder than words, Dave has led by example to inspire a company based on honesty, integrity, transparency, trust, and kindness.
Dave plays a critical role in the success and growth of the organization. His principal responsibility is driving the development and execution of FSET’s overall business strategy aimed at generating new business opportunities, expanding the company’s market share, and driving revenue growth.
When he first started FSET in 1999, Dave was the company’s sole staff member. Over the next two decades, he went on to build a team that could show, instead of merely tell about the true meaning of innovation. With more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement information technology, Dave spent more than a decade as a member of the Ontario Police Technology and Information Cooperative (OPTIC) Security Committee and was one of the founding members of its Mobility Committee. As a trusted industry leader, he has also worked closely to create and curate new IT policy and infrastructure at the national level, enhancing the provision of law enforcement for the entire country. Dave leads FSET to push boundaries and explore new possibilities to provide the best solutions for clients in both the public and private sectors.

Born and raised in Dryden, Ontario, he now lives in Kenora, Ontario with his wife and two sons, making the most of the outdoors and catching the odd Winnipeg Jets game whenever he can.
Nicole Brown
MANAGING PARTNER & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
As the Managing Partner and COO, Nicole takes on a multitude of responsibilities to steer the company towards success and foster an inclusive company culture where employees feel valued and motivated to excel. With her strategic mindset and strong leadership skills, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s direction and ensuring its overall growth. Nicole strives to find every opportunity for FSET to contribute transformative technology to society.
Demonstrating FSET’s industry leadership, Nicole has strategically integrated education into the company’s engagement process. By prioritizing customer understanding, she ensures that clients have a comprehensive grasp of their needs before committing to any contracts. Nicole is relentless in securing game-changing partnerships and financial opportunities for both FSET and its clients throughout the region.
With a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, Nicole brings over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, she possesses an expert understanding of the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, and control) model.
Originally from Ohio, U.S.A., Nicole has made Kenora, Ontario her home as a dual citizen alongside her husband and two boys. She actively supports the community through various board memberships and in her spare time, immerses herself in historical novels and experimenting with culinary creations.
Al Rivers
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
As CIO, Al ensures FSET stays ahead of the technological curve by developing and integrating new policies and procedures to keep the rest of the team at the top of their game. For Al, improvement is paramount, and whether it’s for the company or a client, he’ll happily lend his expertise to enhance the efficiency of others.
Al is an FSET veteran dating back to January 2006, when he joined the company as on of its first employees and began his deep, ongoing dive into the world of law enforcement information technology (LEIT).
Working closely with a local police force for over a decade, Al began lending his technical knowledge to support the creation of the patented Private Community Cloud for Law Enforcement (PCCLE) environment and FSET’s #MobilityFirst initiative. Both of which were developed based on a longstanding goal of bringing the office to the officer in the field and empowering law enforcement through technological innovation. With VMware Certified Professional 6, MSCA: Office 365, and several additional high-level credentials under his belt, Al continues to shape unique solutions and guide policy development to help police better serve their communities.
Born and raised in Kenora, Ontario, Al now lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his wife and son. By and large, Al enjoys being a tourist in his own province, and when he’s not sightseeing with binoculars, he also likes spending time on golf courses and coaching little league hockey.
CHIEF INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER
As CISO, Shawn works inter-departmentally to oversee the company’s security health, implement and mature our information security program, and help protect from various security threats.
Since joining FSET in 2020, Shawn has been assisting with the maturation of the company’s Security Assurance Program in accordance with the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s ITSG-33 framework. When not focusing on policy and compliance, Shawn spends most of his time monitoring FSET’s servers and solutions to help ensure that sensitive customer information and data centres are kept safe and secure. Shawn also works with the team’s other system administrators to deepen their visibility into the company’s security posture, setting the stage for a multi-tiered approach and enhanced level of threat protection.
With over 25 years of experience in system design and security, Shawn feels very much at home with FSET thanks to the company’s focus on assisting organizations and enterprises that require sensitive information to be protected. In addition to having a Diploma in Computer Engineering from Sault College, Shawn is a certified Netware CNE and holds various certifications with Cisco, Citrix, HP, CompTIA, Microsoft and ITIL.
Born, raised in, and working out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Shawn enjoys woodworking in his spare time, as well as going for bike rides and fiddling around with a guitar. Shawn also likes riding ATVs and the occasional RV trip, if the weather permits.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
As CTO, Travis leads the company’s research and development to maximize efficiency and productivity in both the short and long term. In his role, Travis also proudly serves as a company linchpin, routinely lending his insight and technical know-how to other team members to help solve problems and create effective solutions for customers.
Travis joined the team in 2011 as a part of the FSET’s Field Services department, working his way up the ranks over time by successfully completing increasingly complex deployments. Nowadays, Travis is dialed in on the latest technological advancements and disruptive services, allowing him to create cutting-edge solutions and fully support customers while they transition to working out of the cloud. In bringing digital environments to life, Travis does what needs to be done behind the scenes and makes the technology easy to use by ensuring everything is properly configured for customers right out of the gate.
Among his achievements is the role he played in patenting the Private Community Cloud for Law Enforcement (PCCLE) and FSET’s #MobilityFirst initiative, making previously unattainable record management processes a reality for countless police officers. With over 10 years of rigorous experience in virtualization and cloud-based computing, Travis is happy to provide comprehensive IT support not just for law enforcement, but practically any organization or business.
Born and raised in Kenora, Ontario, Travis recently packed his bags and moved with his partner and two children to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Above all else, Travis enjoys going on bowhunting trips, sometimes joined by his two Bullmastiffs.
SALES & SERVICE MANAGER
As the Sales & Service Manager for FSET, Jason features with professional duality, simultaneously handling the procurement and delivery of hardware in the field alongside management of the company’s tech team. Whether it’s internally or externally, Jason nurtures relationships and tempers coaction to see success through to the end of the day.
Jason first joined FSET in 2018 to look after sales and procurement, but with his proclivity for securing deals and his ability to successfully connect vendors with clients, it didn’t take him long to join the company’s managerial ranks. Since 2021, Jason has been supervising the company’s ever-growing team of technicians, which he saw as an opportunity to share his work philosophy and teach others about his proactive approach to service delivery. In both roles combined, Jason synthesizes and sees most orders through from start to finish, ranging from research and requisition to installation and invoices.
Prior to joining FSET, Jason managed several other stores and entrepreneurial ventures, most notably a local business solutions outlet for well over a decade. Owing to his many years of experience leading others, Jason knows firsthand that a team is only as strong as its weakest member, and as such, he does everything he can to build others up and help make everyone else better at what they do.
Outside of the company, Jason is also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving as the Branch 12 Kenora President, Poppy and Remembrance Chair. Jason is also a proud father of one daughter, he can often be found nurturing his green thumb in his garden.
